JOURNEY itself is SUCCESS

The WANT to SUCCEED, kills the creativity and the goal becomes a baggage. Instead of wanting to succeed, it is better to focus on the process – the journey. Enjoy the creativity and believe that when you do good job, success happens. And, Just Breathe….

Everybody wants to SUCCEED in life. Me and You are no exceptions. That Name, Fame, Money and Power, which SUCCESS BRINGS – We all want.

What exactly is SUCCESS ? Is there any mantra to Success ? When does a person succeed ? Would one be a successful person if he gets a Million Dollars ? We have seen most lottery winners not being able to handle the money and come to square one again! Is becoming a CEO of a large organisation success? We have seen many CEOs being ousted unceremoniously. We hear stories of many famed and so-called-successful cine stars, Business Tycoons and Celebrities even committing suicides. What makes them take such a step when they were so-called-successful? What is Success then ?

I understand that Success is not kept somewhere that you go and get it. It is not a milestone. When after becoming Rich, Famous and Powerful also, many people don’t feel as Happy and Successful as they were when they enjoyed their work and the dream to achieve was still alive and that Passion was still there, it clearly tells us that  the Journey they were into ( to the fulfilment of their desire ) was the success. Success is being able to do what you love, with a dream in your eyes, without the fear of failing and with the desire to acquire new skills to do what you want the most. Yes, Success is not a destination. Success is your journey to fulfilment. Fulfilment of a wish, of doing something which you really Love, Creating what you want to, Learning new techniques to do your job better, with dreams in your eyes to excel in what you do. And enjoy that journey to fulfilment. This JOURNEY itself is SUCCESS.

When we look at the Success stories of some famous people, we find that they certainly loved their jobs. Reason enough that despite very humble beginnings, despite getting rejected or facing initial failures, they kept on because of the love of the job and dreams in their eyes. They all created history because they enjoyed the journey ( to the fulfilment ). Iconic Shree Dhirubhai Ambani Ji, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Captain Cool MS Dhoni, Star of the Millenium Mr Amitabh Bachchan, Little Master Sunil Gavaskar and many more of huge success stories never had a milestone where they stopped and felt that yes, now I’m successful. They always were ( are ) so absorbed in the journey ( to the fulfilment ) that the journey becomes success. They just wanted to do what they loved the most, simply enjoyed the Journey and kept themselves gearing up with the required skills for survival in their journey and their Journey became success-stories. The Journey is so captivating for them that they continue in it despite we thinking that they have achieved huge success. They cant’ dissociate themselves from the Journey. For them, Journey is Success.

Dhirubahi was involved in the business till his final years. Sunil Gavaskar is still attached to the cricketing world, Sachin Tendulkar continues supporting cricket and other sports through various of his activities, Mahanayak Amitabh Bachchan still reaches the sets for shooting regularly like any of the industry youngsters……… they all still remain in the journey. They all know….Success is not something that is lying at the end of any Journey. That their being in the journey itself ensures their continued success. Yes, Journey itself is Success.

Those who aim at Success, always run the risk of failure. Those who start the journey and keep walking the path, Keep learning the new tricks to continue in the journey and have the patience, are bound to achieve that fulfilment, called success.

Despite all your commitments, rigours, discipline and abilities, it is important to remain creative and keep the desire alive to walk on the path you have chosen. The goals which we call success milestones may start haunting you and becomes biggest hurdles that kill your desire to remain creative.  This unnecessary excitement is the reason of many noted cricket  batsmen getting bowled out in their score of 90s. The ones who continue enjoying the game don’t stop even after scoring the century !

Rules to Keep you glued to your journey (and the resultant success)

1. Do what you love – Nobody succeeds in what one does not enjoy. Unless you have that feeling ( of love )for your work, you don’t succeed. Decide what you want to do. While doing so, think really exactly why you are doing it. Don’t’ do anything just because others have done it successfully. It is like studying Physics just because somebody has succeeded after studying physics. People usually don’t succeed in anything that they don’t enjoy doing. Dr. Shubha loved teaching and that was the main reason for her grand success.
2. Expectations kill the desire to create – Don’t run for the goal, do your job with full commitment. In a successful career, there is no destination or target. It is not that when you reach that position, then you only you succeed. The journey itself is success. Enjoy the journey and your career will sure become a success-story.
3. Choose your captain. During the journey, you would need a guide, the lamp to show the way. But note, Having more than one captain would be disastrous. Choose your master and follow honestly. Many a times, your own instinct or your ability to learn becomes your guide. Allow that captain to guide you when the light goes out.
4. Have Patience – Success does not always follow the rules of mathematics. Just because somebody succeeded in the same business / Profession in 2 years, you will also succeed in the same time by adopting the same tricks is actually, a MIRAGE. Situations and Factors may be really different and beyond your control. Keep faith, have patience and enjoy doing your job. Fact is that SUCCESS does not come to you out of BLUE. Also, focusing on success ( rather than journey ) robs you of the enjoyment of the Journey.
5. Keep Upgrading regularly :  See how Dr Shubha used the latest gadgets and technology to teach her students which got her students the resultant success …get latest gadgets and technologies also when required
6. Engage with your customers on one-to-one basis : Customers Love getting attention to their problems and its solution. Since your existing customers are your Brand Ambassadors, they will help you get more customers. And that is the success.
7. Never Stop Dreaming : You work for what you dream to be. You are worth everything you dream yourself to be. Your desire to realise your dreams push you to continue in the journey and the Journey becomes Success.
